While scouring the dense forests of Conecuh County, Alabama, in 1809, a scientific expedition stumbled upon a large, unidentified cave system that extended 1,943 meters (6,374 feet) deep. The team regrouped with a more elaborate team to fully investigate the tunnel system. Months later, they uncovered a salt mound and found what seemed to be a normal room, with wooden floors and walls, and a person sleeping in the unmade bed.

The person claimed to be a normal human named Soleil and noted that she had lived there her entire life and had no idea she had lived under a cave system. The team disbanded after finding nothing else notable about the room; its origins and how it was placed there remain unknown to this day. However, Soleil continues to live there, unalarmed about the entire situation and predicament.
